“ We visited again after the last time we booked unfortunately there was a problem with the kitchen. We were a bit apprehensive but the food was absolutely 5 star . One of the best meals I have had in a while. Excellent value for money, everything was clearly fresh, well presented, extremely tasty. Will definitely be returning soon ”
“ We came here in our dinner break. We pre ordered for 1 pm. Took until 1 :45pm for any food to leave the kitchen. At this point we still hadn't had our drinks. Nearly every plate that came out had to go back. Foil in the cheese on the burger, curry was freezing cold, wrong items on baguettes, plates missing chips, they had no tomato ketchup in the pub. At 1:55pm there was still no sign of about 6 dishes. When the waitress was asked about this she replied they havent started plating them up yet. They were having an inspection on the day, I understand that but the food should not have been at a low standard and taking that long. We left the pub without having our meals and drinks. Would not recommend. ”
“ I have brought my parents to the Angel tonight. What an amazing atmosphere, lovely really helpful staff. The food was absolutely amazing too. It was my parents 62nd wedding anniversary they were overwhelmed and ate more than I’ve seen them eat in a long time. Well done all, compliments to the chef. ”
“ Went there today for a special occasion Staff were amazing and helped me loads to surprise my wife and daughter. Thanks you so much, service was excellent and the food was so good. ”
“ We were seated in the conservatory due to the other parts being fully seated. We took our border collie with us. The lovely Jade was our server. The conservatory has beautiful fairy lights all over the ceiling providing a warm cosy glow. There were four of us. The bar is very well equipped. My husband enjoyed a few pints of something called staropramin I think. He normally only has 1 or 2 pints but I think he had 4 stating "it's a very good pint". The rest of us had soft drinks due to driving. Now onto the subject that is a big part of why this place is so enjoyable to visit THE FOOD. Oh my God!!!! The home made roast parsnip soup with warm bread. The sharing camembert with warm bread, warm nuts and chillied olives were outstanding as starters served on a hotplate to keep them warm. Our mains were so plentiful that we struggled to finish but we managed. We had Hunters chicken, No burger burger vegi option and ribeyes. The steaks were succulent and you know how you dream of that great steak flavour, it was there in spades. We had huge homemade onion rings and a homemade peppercorn sauce that tasted like it had been made with meat juices and cream. Dribbling just thinking about it. We have had loads of ribeyes out elsewhere including at home but the quality of them was very very good. I must comment that we have paid more for steaks elsewhere but nothing has topped the ones we had at the Angel. We sat bursting at the gills. We offered dessert and tried the home made apple and rhubarb crumble with ice-cream and one of us with custard. This was to due for. A very good portion. We were able to have what we could not eat containered to take home. Our border collie enjoyed a grilled chicken breast while we ate our desserts. There was a bowl of water inside for him. So to summarise the whole of the family thoroughly enjoyed everything about our visit and we could not stop talking about it on the way home. The staff treat you like family and are a credit to the Angel. We asked to speak to the chef and she came out when she was able to. What a superstar, a real talent tucked away in Abersychan. We will be visiting regularly and you are strongly advised to take a trip to experience for yourselves, enjoy. J Chivers from Bridgend. ”

“ Sunday Lunch. We haven't been here for Sunday Lunch for about 2 years. It's now under new management so we thought we would give it a try, and it didn't disappoint. The Broccoli was a little under cooked for my liking but that's my personal preference. We had the Beef, Lamb and Chicken and it was lovely, plenty of vegetables. The staff were friendly and attentive. We'll being back. ”
“ When there first Valentines Day lunch- Food was amazing and perfectly cooked. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to trying the Sunday dinner. ”
